How to Create a Vision Board

We will guide you through the tools necessary to create your Vision Board

Why Create a Vision Board?

We create a vision board to keep our goals and dreams in front of us daily. Why do we get up in the morning? What are we working towards? Who do we want to be around and what dreams are we pursuing? These are all reflected in my goal board. When I get discouraged or frustrated, I glance at my board, and it helps get me back on track.

Your vision board is a very personal and unique statement of your intentions for your journey. There is no wrong or right way to put one together. Everyone’s will look different, as we all have different goals and dreams for ourselves. Remember, you cannot get this wrong. It’s all about YOU!

What you should put in your Vision Board

The most important thing is to gather visuals that you’ll want to see each and every day. These could be images of places you desire to visit, important quotes, positive affirmations, photos of friends and family, or memories of events, places, or people. Whatever motivates you and helps inspire your goals is a great addition. Some people choose to put images of a home they want to purchase, or a trip they want to take. Others put more tangible and attainable things like a car they want to buy, or a piece of jewelry they’d enjoy wearing. Those are all material goals.

Adding spiritual goals and aspirations that are personally meaningful to you is also important. Some people choose to put a dress they’d like to fit in, to remind them that weight loss is a personal goal. Others choose items that represent a relationship goal such as the words “trust, love, commitment,” etc.

What you need for your Vision Board

You can do this with supplies handy around your house, or you can purchase the supplies from Amazon, Walmart, or your local hobby store. The supplies used are a personal choice and I will provide some links at the bottom if you’d like some guidance.

The first item you need is a board or backing to place your artwork. This could be:

  • A corkboard
  • A stock board
  • A poster
  • A simple sheet of paper

The second item needed is the artwork. This can be magazine or newspaper clippings, printouts from online, or hand-drawn statements or pictures.

Time to Organize your Goal Board

Let the fun begin! Now that you have all your supplies ready, it’s time to organize them on your board. Again, this is your personal preference and should be done in your style. I typically arrange them by size and shape. I start with the corners and work my way in. There is no right or wrong way to do this. Think of your intention behind each piece and why you want it on your board. You might find certain items don’t fit your board once you start creating them. It’s okay. This should be a fun experience and something you will want to display in a direct-eye view in your home.

Now you have your vision board organized and ready to hang! Remember to make sure all of the pieces are secure so when it’s hung pieces don’t fall down.

Hang your Vision Board in a Prominent Place

You don’t want to go through all the effort to create a goal board only to hang it in your closet or behind a door. Choose a place where you will be able to see this daily. This should help serve as a positive reminder on where you are going and help reset you when you need it.

Make sure to place your goal board in a place where you are most likely to see it and interact with it on a daily basis.

I have mine on my bedroom wall straight across from my bed. This helps with manifestation. So, when I wake up, I see it. When I go to bed, I see it. It has been a great tool for me and I’m excited to have my first free workshop with you to show you how I do it.

It’s important to create a goal board yearly and refresh it every January. There are people who refresh theirs, monthly, quarterly, and yearly. This is yours and you get to decide how to care for it. Your goal board should reflect what you want from your experience. This is limitless and nothing is impossible for you. Shoot for the moon and you will be surprised how this helps you this year! I hope you enjoyed this article and reach out if you have any questions. All the best, Marianne.
